Trilogy of Central Cross-Island Highway
Trilogy of Central Cross-Island Highway
Every day, we all constantly…
lose some memories, some news, some toys, some money, and some friends.
Or
lose youth, health, passion, innocence, ideal, more or less.
So
lose some green fields, some fertile soils, some clear water, some singing birds, blue sky, is nothing to worry about. It is only one loss of so many losses.
It is only once for a while I am reminded by the impetuous poet: “It is no exaggeration about the statement that landscape at Taiwan is over Japan. You won’t see such astonishing natural beauty here wherever you travel at Japan. The natural beauty here is overwhelming beauty! There is no work by god or man. You don’t need to visit those so-called scenic spots to enjoy the natural beauty of Taiwan. Those mountains and plains you see randomly are all very beautiful. That kind of beauty is one without any cover-up. That beauty is the green color in trees, such brilliantly verdant color. And there is also the red flower set off for this green color. It is so unique around the world. The green at Taiwan is like a brilliant floral one. With such green, Taiwan does not need those scenic spots! Under the abundant sunlight, heat and rainwater, the flourishingly verdant mountains are like blooming with greenish flower. The misty green in rain is particularly pretty.” (Taiwan kenbunki by Inosuke Nakanishi (1887-1958) )
How long it was ago? – It is not yet over half century!
I have long forgotten how my mother looks like. I don’t remember her beautiful face at all.
And I cannot feel sad for long,
the flow of time will sweep everything away soon.
One day, when all the lights would die out in my eye,
Then,
what else could I lose?
