這裡曾經是駐台美軍的獵鴨場，當時隨便對空鳴槍，鴨群因擁擠慌亂而撞落一地。

聽說…
曾有賞鳥人蹲在蘆葦裡聽雁鴨越過頭頂的拍翅聲，足足聽了兩小時才止歇。

聽說…
上萬隻野鴨凌空飛舞，遮蔽了落日光華，抹去了山陵輪廓。

聽說…

不過這些我都沒看過，當我為傳說飛馳而來，它已是井然有序的魚塭養殖池了。

傳說畢竟只是傳說，不是充滿想像，便是誇大不實。

或是…
我們這一代還沒有足夠的智慧，
足以留下美麗的傳說？

I heard that…
here used to be ducking field for American armed forces at Taiwan. At that time, even a random shoot toward sky would cause a crowded flock of panic ducks colliding to fall to the ground.

I heard that…
there used to be someone squatting inside the reed forest to listen to the sound of wing-flapping by Anseriformes over his head for the sake of bird watching. He said he listened for totally 2 hours before it stopped.

I heard that…
more than ten thousands of wild ducks flying in the air and the flock is so large-scaled that the glory of sunset and the outline of hills are almost invisible.

I heard that…

I never get a chance to see all of these. When I drive all the way for this legend to here, it already becomes well-organized fish farms.

After all, legend is only legend, which is either fully imaginary or falsely exaggerated.

Or…
is that because my generation don’t have enough wisdom to preserve such beautiful legend?
