根據2009年6月1日綠色和平組織的《屠殺亞馬遜》報告:為人熟識的國際大品牌,正以無形之手推動巴西養牛業迅速發展,加速毀滅亞馬遜雨林 ......巴西牧牛業造成了全球每年14%的森林消失。綠色和平成員深入亞馬遜雨林心臟,調查當地農場非法採伐、毀林、侵佔原住民家園,奴役工人,以及生產牛製品。採購這些牛製品的廠商不乏赫赫有名的大品牌,數有Adidas、Reebok、Timberland、Geox、Carrefour、Honda、Gucci、IKEA、Kraft、Clarks及Nike等等。
印尼環保獨立觀察組織棕櫚油觀察(Sawit Watch)表示:1800萬公頃的雨林已經被砍掉,種植棕櫚樹。環保人士呼籲,必須有更大的力量阻止種植公司在印尼砍伐雨林的不法行為,否則地球生態將更加惡化。報載:印尼廖內省的農民經常縱火焚燒森林,以開闢空地給種植公司種植經濟作物,而焚燒森林帶來的煙霧,在東南亞造成傷害,在過去13年中,讓飽受困擾的新加坡、馬來西亞等鄰國抗議。印尼政府公布的數據稱,印尼種植棕櫚樹的面積達680萬公頃,僅佔印尼全國土地的5%,但根據非政府組織監測,實際上佔的面積高出官方統計更多。 2010年3月18日綠色和平最新調查報告指出:雀巢是世界上最大的食品飲料公司,每天銷售超過10億件產品。它也是重要的棕櫚油採購商,採購量更持續增長。在過去3年,雀巢的棕櫚油年使用量幾乎翻了一番,達到32萬噸。這些棕櫚油被用在包括巧克力KitKat的眾多產品中。而全球所生產的KitKat巧克力,每5分鐘就足以堆成一座埃菲爾鐵塔,可見焚墾雨林有多迫切。

According to the “Massacring Amazon,” a report by Greenpeace on June 1, 2009, many well-renowned global brand names were involving with promotion on rapid development of cow farming at Brazil with invisible gesture and thus speed up the destroy of Amazon rainforest…. The Brazilian cattle farming business costs the disappearance of 14% forest on the world every year. Members of Greenpeace came into the heart of Amazon rainforest to survey illegal lumbering, forest destroy, invading and occupying homeland from aborigines, enslaving workers and producing cow-related products by those local farms. Some factories and stores who purchase those cow-related products are very famous big names, including Adidas, Reebok, Timberland, Geox, Carrefour, Honda, Gucci, IKEA, Kraft, Clarks and Nike, etc.
Indonesia independent environment observation organization Sawit Watch said that there had been 1,800 hectare rainforest hewed down for plantation of palm trees. Environment activists appeal that there must bigger power to stop the illegal action of hewing rainforest at Indonesia by corporations otherwise the eco-system on Earth would be worsen further. According to newspaper, peasants at Riau State of Indonesia often burn down forest to have more lands for plantation companies in order to plant economic crops. The smoke and frog from burning forest already made damage around Southeastern Asia area. In the past 13 years, the suffering neighborhood countries such as Singapore and Malaysia constantly protest. The statistics announced by Indonesia government shows there are 6.8 million hectares of palm tree plantation in Indonesia, which is merely 5% of the total land of the nation. However, according to non-governmental organization, the real figure is actually higher than the official data shows. In Greenpeace survey report on March 18, 2010, it said that Nestlé is one of the largest food and beverage suppliers and daily sale reaches over 10 billion products. It is also a major palm oil buyer and the acquisition is continuously increasing. In the past 3 years, the consuming of palm oil by Nestlé is almost double to reach 320 thousand tons. The palm oil is used to produce many products including KitKat chocolate. The KitKat global production could pile one Eiffel Tower every 5 minutes, which indicates the extremely heavy burden of rainforest.
Ever since the fire in rainforest started in mid 20th century, even till today in 2012, the smoke is still curling upwards. While the expanding farms and palm fields gradually engulf the skyline of rainforest, on the ashy and boring land we set up one after another alter of brands.
