為了遮掩人嗜血噬肉啃骨的猙獰面貌,我們將食材洗淨打扮裝飾,甚至做成丸子、肉鬆、香腸,徹底改變生物原有形貌,再用刀叉筷子優雅地放在臼齒間研磨。食材不用親自養育,或跟牠玩耍,更無須親自奪取牠的生命,所以我們對牠毫無感情,既使牠已經犧牲到底了,我們心底還是找不到一絲絲的感恩或憐憫,牠唯一被人關心的是多少錢,好不好吃,如此而已,不會更多。

The Steamed Lotus Leaf Chicken

In order to cover our grim image of eating flesh and meat, we garnish ingredients very carefully. We make meatball, fried port flakes and sausage in order to transfigure the original forms of those creatures and then we elegantly put them into our mouth with knife and fork. We don’t need to raise them personally, play with them, or take their lives directly. So we don’t have any affection toward them. Even though it totally sacrifices for us, we still cannot find any appreciation or compassion in our hearts. What we care about is the price and taste, and no more.
